Senga Bay, Malawi … With school final exams less than a week away the Parachute Community Library is full to the doors. By all appearances one would have to conclude there are a large number of future leaders present, if the theme holds true that a reader today becomes a leader tomorrow.
The library is the result of the combined efforts of a number of organizations including the Paratroop Battalion, Cool Runnings, the Malawi Project, and a number of others.
Opened in 2009 the library today has an estimated 3,500 books (2,000 were shipped by the Malawi Project for use in the library), under its care. The military has trained librarians to care for the valuable collection. The library is independent and today is able to sustain itself financially.
