If Birds Could Talk
Thondwe, Malawi … If birds could talk perhaps they would be commenting on the beautiful new roof that has been completed on the Namikango Maternity Hospital just east of the Thondwe Trading Center in Malawi Central Africa. The facility sits on the north side of the road between Zomba and Blantyre and is sheltered from view by a large stand of trees. Surrounding the medical facility are a large number of buildings that make up the Namikango Hospital and Mission.
Project Expands at the Right Moment
In recent months the need for a new roof on the hospital was compounded by a government mandate that the roof had to be fixed. At the same time the Malawi Project was expanding its outreach into the southern part of the nation and the hospital at Namikango qualified for an increase in aid.
Pipeline Filling With Supplies
By mid-2008 a large influx of medical supplies was flowing through the pipeline destined for the hospital, and funds had been allotted for the completion of a new roof on the facility and plans were underway to modernize one of the buildings on the property as a medical storage warehouse for the region.
Not a Moment to Waste
The first part of the program is now complete and the roof is on the building. The next step is the modernization of the storage warehouse and there is not a moment to waste; the rains are coming in about 6 weeks, and two 40-foot containers of supplies are already on the high seas headed for the coast of Africa.
