Indianapolis, Indiana … Thanks to the help of I.U. Medical Center/Methodist Hospital of Indianapolis, a number of used kidney dialysis machines have been donated to the Malawi Project. The first eight are on their way to Malawi.
Seeing the opportunity to help his country, and assisted by his brother Shadrack, I.U. employee Peter Kamwendo approached the hospital administration with his request to donate the used machines to his beloved country. They readily agreed, and the machines were quickly prepared for shipment.
Suzi Stephens RN, Medical Director for the Malawi Project, points out there are almost no working kidney dialysis machines in the government hospital system for a nation of over 17 million people. “The situation is dire, and the effort Peter and Shadrack have put forward to help their people will easily be seen in lives saved and heath maintained. They are making a major contribution to the healthcare system of Malawi.”
