Lilongwe, Malawi … As the foundation walls settle into their new home at the site of the new Action for Progress distribution hub near Lilongwe, truckloads of fill dirt arrive to join them.
Nearly four feet of fill dirt is being offloaded by hand, as the 22-man workforce, dressed in blue jumpsuit type work uniforms, and wearing white helmets for protection, work against the deadline of the arrival of the first shipping container that will call this site home.
The upcoming shipment, filled with food for victims of the recent cyclone, will be closely followed by another container filled with mobility units, gloves for medical personnel, hand tools, and clothing. Both are scheduled to arrive in early July.
