Construction Heading Toward the Final Stage
Lilongwe, Malawi … As though planning to punch holes in low flying clouds, the I-Beams that will hold up the roof of the new Action for Progress Distribution Center have been set in place. The next step is to begin attaching cross beams for the roof and constructing the sidewalls of the building from the accumulated stacks of cement blocks. Traditionally most buildings in Malawi have been constructed of wood and/or bricks. Relatively new to the scene is the use of cement blocks for that purpose.
The Distribution Center is expected to be completed before the end of July. This will allow shipment of a backlog of supplies and equipment that are being held in at least five locations in Indiana, and one in Grand Junction, Colorado. Funds for the final payment to Diamond Construction are currently being sought, and the final amount will come in non-too soon to meet the deadline of construction.
Unlike many construction projects around the world, Alfred Chiwale and his team at Diamond Construction have remained on course with both the proposed bid for the work and the deadline for its completion. Your help is needed to complete this final payment. Please click here to make a contribution toward that goal. https://www.malawiproject.org/donate/
