Lilongwe, Malawi … Market Day in Malawi’s trading centers is a day of fuss, fury, and frenzy. Malawians seem to know where they are going, but for an American it is an impossible maize to navigate. For those walking beside, on, or across the highway, and for the drivers who must dodge the foot traffic, one can only wonder what unseen signal passes between them that avoids a collusion that could signal disaster for both the pedestrian and the vehicle driver.
It is something you may only want to experience once. Yet, it happens over and over as you move about the country, and travel in and out of the trading centers. That’s Malawi.
Thanks Wilson Tembo, I’m glad you were driving on this day and not me.
