LONGEST RUNNING CYCLONE IN HISTORY STRIKES MALAWI

Lebanon, Indiana … Over this past weekend the nation of Malawi, in Central Africa, suffered what may be recorded as the longest-running cyclone in history. Entire villages, along with many of their residents have washed away in a torrent of rain and mud, roads disappeared in mudslides and torrential rain, flight traffic disrupted, electric service crippled, and schools closed. The search for survivors continues days after the catastrophe of the storm itself.

On Thursday volunteers from Lebanon, Indiana helped load a 40-foot shipping container of medical supplies, food, clothes, shoes, children’s clothing, toys, and candy. The Malawi Project, along with Universal Aid in Canada, and Gebende Haende in Bonn, Germany joined together to make this shipment possible.
